the cost of things: checks

the cost to deposit a Bank Leumi check drawn from my employer’s Bank Leumi account into my own Bank Leumi account at a central Bank Leumi branch – NIS 5.50

the cost to deposit the same check using a machine inside the branch – NIS 1.65

the cost to get a teller to take my check and deposit it for me at the check-depositing machine – one minute of complaining loudly that the fee increase in July from NIS 1.21 to NIS 5.50 constitutes a materially adverse change in contract with Bank Leumi, entitling me to void the agreement and start charging them interest (and other random nonsense)

I used to pay NIS 5 to cash my salary check at Bank Yerushalayim. The just canceled that fee, so now it’s free. Maybe I should go there.

I’ve been with Bank Leumi for 11 yrs, and have also liked them, and have gotten good and helpful treatment,…until a year ago,….downhill.

Maybe this is what we should do. Do we really have to use electronic transfers for things? That would be the main disadvantage to his plan.
