America in 140 characters or fewer

Last month I went to visit America for a couple weeks and I recorded the entire trip on the Twitter. Here are all my tweets, from the minute my vacation began to when I got back home. Sorry they’re in reverse order – I can’t find a tool that will export them from first to [...]

    Roommates

I thought I’d had every imaginable type of roommate in the decade since I moved out of my parents’ house, but in fact I’ve had only eight of the nine possible types of roommates. Can you guess which type has never lived with me?

The gamer. I did live with a couple guys who were aficionados [...]

    Sharav 2.0

Imagine my dog Sharav. Now imagine him with 50% more body mass, slightly smaller ears, a stronger mouth grip, a bum leg and a tongue that doesn’t hang out of his mouth all the time. That is Tokyo, who is staying here in the apartment with Sharav and me, along with his owner Zeke, for [...]

America, part 1: at a glance

Ever wondered what I do when I go to America? So have I. Here’s a step-by-step breakdown of how I spent my winter vacation.

Day 1: JFK, Reagan, AT&T, T-Mobile, Chipotle, Costco, CVS, Lenscrafters, chicken tenders, cookies, Benny Lava

Day 2: pancakes, online glasses shopping, Kohl’s, Popeye’s, Goodwill, AT&T, Buca di Beppo

    Day 3: Costco, Pizza Hut, At&t, [...]

    Beach weather

It’s the last week in January and today’s temperature is in the mid 70s Fahrenheit – I couldn’t say what that equals in fake degrees – and I’m walking the dog in a t-shirt (I’m wearing the t-shirt; Sharav is nude). To the person who recently asked me if I don’t find life in Israel [...]

    Pets in Uniform

If you’re anything like me, you’ve often wondered what your pet would look like in a uniform. Wonder no longer.

I’d have already ordered a portrait of Sharav in uniform, except I’m waiting until I have a fireplace with a mantle where I can display it.

    Happy Birthday Sharav

Yesterday was Sharav’s birthday. He’s two years old! I haven’t really decided how we’re going to celebrate yet … fortunately he doesn’t know one day from the next, so if we celebrate next week, he won’t mind. We did, however, spend several hours listening to the greatest hits of Elvis Presley.

    Year Four in Review

Four years is kind of a long time, about 15% of my life, or the length of a generation in high school or university, or the amount of time it takes for a professional sports team to win a championship, start sucking, and then get good again (not the Redskins), or the term of a [...]
