I worked at a sports-themed sandwich and ice cream restaurant called Varsity Scoops and Grille in Germantown, Maryland. I earned $4.85/hour and then got a raise to $5.00. I started working there in approximately May 1997 and lasted through August 2007. It wasn't that bad; I ate a tremendous amount of hot dogs and cookie dough ice cream, and I also learned how to cook hot dogs properly and have been honored to teach many people since then.

And what is the proper method to cook hotdogs?
First you slice it down the middle, lengthwise. Then you flip it over and press it down flat on the crease, so it’s split into two halves, but still connected. Then you make about a half dozen horizontal slices in both halves. This all ensures even cooking. Then you lay it out on the grill, with one of those grill press tools, until it’s cooked to perfection. It’s really all in the preparation. Toasted bun is mandatory, not optional.
