Sawyer is Jacob (my final answer)!

I was reading about the Dutch invasion of England recently to pass the time when it struck me that the movement to reinstate the descendants of poor James II and VII, the legitimate sovereign overthrown, is Jacobitism. That word comes from the name James in Latin, a language that we know the Others/Hostiles use to communicate with one another.

What if … what if the Others/Hostiles are Jacobites who have relocated to the island after failing to recover control of Britain? Jacob, the mysterious spirit, is the ghost of James II and VII, somehow. Charles Widmore is Bonnie Prince Charlie, the grandson of James II and VII and subject of the famous song “My Bonnie Lies Over The Ocean.” Locke and Ben are pretenders like William and Mary.

Most importantly, Sawyer, whose real name is James, is the current generation’s Jacob. With the show’s version of time travel, this could all be possible. It still wouldn’t explain the Egyptian motif, but I still think that’s a red herring.
